Upgrading Supermicro Server from Windows 2003 to Windows 2008 R2

Posted by Russell Wright on March 9, 2010

I went through an upgrade from Windows 2003 (SP2) to Windows 2008 R2 on my 2U Supermicro Super Server.  It found my 3Ware 955SX SATA controller okay, but had some issues with some unsigned drivers.  Basically, it wanted me to uninstall:

Program:  IsaIo Windows Driver
Publisher:  SuperMicro Computer, Inc.
Path:  C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\ISAIONT.sys

Program:  MemMap Windows Driver
Publisher:  SuperMicro Computer, Inc.
Path:  C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\MemMapNt.sys

Program:  SMBUS Windows Driver
Publisher:  SuperMicro Computer, Inc.
Path:  C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\SMBus.sys

Program:  Unknown
Publisher:  Unknown
Path:  C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\Superbmc.sys

I had to guess at what these might be related to, so I uninstalled the Supero Doctor III client, since I really didn’t have much else installed on the physical machine (I run mainly virtuals).  This worked, as the next time I went through the upgrade process, this roadblock went away.
